Dashed ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Dashed mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Recipe Data: Recipes you manually enter, including ingredient lists, instructions, notes, and collections
• URLs You Share: Web addresses you provide for recipe import
• User Preferences: Settings such as measurement units (oz/ml) and display preferences
• Support Communications: Messages you send to our support team

Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Features used, recipes saved, import frequency, app sessions (collected in aggregate)
• Crash Data: Error logs and crash reports to improve app stability

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Payment Information: Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details.
• Location Data: We do not collect your geographic location
• Contacts: We do not access your contacts or address book
• Browsing History: We do not track your web browsing outside of URLs you explicitly provide for recipe import

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service: Store your recipes, process recipe imports, and display your personal library
• Process Recipe Imports: When you provide a URL, we send the web page content to our backend server for structured data extraction using AI (Anthropic's Claude API) to extract factual recipe data
• Improve the App: Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs
• Communicate: Send service-related notifications (e.g., subscription status, important updates)
• Provide Support: Respond to your questions and requests

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with the following service providers:

• Anthropic (Claude API): Web page content from URLs you provide, used for AI-powered recipe extraction. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Railway: Backend server hosting. URLs you submit and extracted recipe data in transit.
• Apple: App distribution, subscriptions, and crash reporting per Apple's privacy policy.

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

4. Data Storage and Security

On your device: Recipes, collections, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework.

On our servers: URLs you submit for import are processed by our backend server. Extracted recipe data is returned to your device and is not retained on our servers after processing.

iCloud: If you use iCloud backup, your app data may be included in your device backup per Apple's iCloud terms.

We implement reasonable security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and API key authentication for backend services. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can view all of your recipe data within the App at any time. You may delete individual recipes or your entire account at any time. Deleting your account removes all associated data.

6. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). 7. International Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. 8. Age Requirement

Dashed is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 21. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21.

9. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites (such as original recipe sources). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
